… bit lately so this post will appear here and here alone.
I ordered a book from Abebooks, Pan horror stories number 3. I bought a bunch of those way back when and enjoyed them. They were edited by Herbert van Thal, and came with an introduction about the stories and the general theme if I remember correctly. The book cost pennies but the postage hiked the price up. They were among the first books to get cleared out when space became tight. I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure the numbers I bought were eleven and higher. It was always good to go into a bookshop and be able to pick up a collection. To be honest it was mainly science fiction and horror that had collections, they were common – not so prevalent nowadays. The main reason (only one actually, although I’m sure there are other fine stories in the volume)for me purchasing number three is that it has a Bob Shaw story in it. One I haven’t read – to the best of my knowledge.
I’ve been trying to get Google analytics to analyse my blogger blog for traffic purposes. The settings keeps saying that the code isn’t there, which is weird because I pasted the code in exactly where the instructions said to paste the code and doubly weird because one part of Google wont recognise another part of Google. The exact same code works fine for WordPress blogs. I spent ten or fifteen minutes hunting through the help files to see if there was any solution. Nada.
The Bob Shaw blog is showing an increase in traffic of 59.02% and I’ve seen an increase of spam to the same degree.
What the hell has happened to Yahoo? This search engine seems to have lost the plot. Recently they changed the layout of their home page, making it an extra click to sign in an read email. Now I find I have to wait a few seconds before I type anything in if I want to search. If the page isn’t fully loaded and you start typing in that text gets selected and then it gets deleted when you continue to type in and you’re left with half a search, or a search with half a word chopped off. It gets quite annoying if you’re in the habit of starting a search as soon as the web page appears.
